2/17- 2/23 Last Week’s Poetry : A Look Back
Before we step into the conversation for this week, Let’s step into ourselves with the words and inspired images that supported sed word. Poetry has a way of holding a mirror, touching the hearts and, painting the world we see. Sometimes taking a step back can redirect your focus on something’s you’ve missed. Here’s a recap of last weeks pieces:
7 Days, 14 Lines Poetry Challenge
Monday

The tides are high and no moon in sight. Mondays seem perfect for analyzing the currency of self . I’m currently ready to crash out . Not yet the bed is where I rep and max out.
Tuesday

Tuesdays seem perfect for transmuting and exploring the inner toddler in me. Feeling congested, disconnected and claustrophobic… pause for a breath… I’m in the moment. It’s like settling in a meadow. Away from the shell but soon I’ll be saved by the bell. Back to reality.
Wednesday

Wednesdays seem perfect for a little wine. No work no school ; what will I do with my time? . A swirl of red wonder will make it worth my while . A little bit of sweet and dry…fermentation hitting my body , you would’ve thought Keith sweat called me.
Thursday

Thursdays seem perfect for trusting the process. With all the snow , emotions are swirling within the home . But when the sun comes out tomorrow, tomorrow it’ll be a better day!!!
Friday

Fridays seem perfect for getting fried . It’s getting closer to the weak-end and I’m feeling tired. Mary Jane she’s the main thang and I don’t mind .
Saturday

Saturdays seem perfect for shamaladingdong. A spiritual sit down basking in the numbers I see all around . Clarity is given when I’m on the common ground . Feeling the synergy from my root to the toot. The syllables I speak bring me into a divine salute of submission .
Sunday

Sundays seem perfect for simply seeing shit for what it is some folks go to church. Some folks have to work, but at the end of the day the day gotta end .
A Challenge It Was, And A Challenge It’ll Be; Aka “Gods Plan “ .Giving You Free Choice To Co- Create Your Reality. As For it has already been set for you, YOU must remember the “why”. The why comes with judgement( not just with oneself) but others. When you have a strong discernment within self, those boundaries will back up with your over standing. Embrace the ability and gift for righteously seeing what is and isn’t for you. Now that some time is passed; are you able to identify with how far you’ve come ? Use it as stool not a crutch. You are a power manifest-or ; affirm yourself .
2/24- 2/28 Black History In Motion
Black history isn’t just about the past , it is about the now , future and present lessons that help shape us. This week we’re highlighting a variety of poetry, world events, and I myself contributing to the collective essence. Whether it’s the culture, the struggles, or the wins, we’re diving into what it all means for our personal growth . To set the tone, I wanna share this poem I wrote about monogamy with the black man and black woman.

Monogamy isn’t monopoly. There is no bread winner, cause when we are both fed; dinner is delivered.
Self serving but so sufficient. The ingredients I provide I am the kitchen . No need for the table cause I don’t fold. I remain omission under certain conditions ima mystery…Letting life lead and let it be.
The imaginary war has been taking a toll on our community. As both, man and woman discover their role moving into the new world. the poem was inspired by talking with a black man whose outlook on life is rather interesting. It started to formulate something in my head about the constant competition we have with one another. When the truth is, we need each other. Even through all the individuality, in order to the end game; one must walk the road together for true triumph.
From the Archives: Timeless Reflections
Kendrick Lamar’s Statement: A Culture Shift in Real-Time Hip-hop has always been a voice for the people, and Kendrick just reminded everyone why. His latest statement shook the industry, pushing conversations about ownership, legacy, and staying true to your message. What does his stance mean for the culture? And more importantly, what does it mean for us as individuals navigating our own paths? We’ll break that down this week.
Kendrick Lamar has never been just a rapper—he’s a messenger, a storyteller, and a mirror reflecting the truths many would rather ignore. His latest statement has reignited conversations about authenticity, industry control, and what it means to stand firm in your own voice. But to really understand the weight of his words, you have to look at the patterns he’s been weaving through his music for years.
One of the most subtle yet powerful threads in Kendrick’s work is the presence of the matriarch—a guiding voice, an “echo” that amplifies his thoughts, decisions, and conflicts. Whether it’s his mother’s voicemail on Good Kid, M.A.A.D City, the wisdom of his grandmother’s prayers in To Pimp a Butterfly, or even the way female figures embody spiritual forces in other classics.
Fast forward to his Super Bowl performance, where Kendrick took the stage flanked by women in red wigs—a deliberate choice that can’t be ignored. Red, often symbolizing power, sacrifice, and transformation, coupled with their synchronized presence, seemed to reinforce this recurring theme: the matriarch as an ever-present force in his story. It’s not just background imagery; it’s a message. These women weren’t just dancers—they were a visual manifestation of the echoes that have guided him throughout his career.
Kendrick never moves alone. The echoes of the women in his life—mothers, grandmothers, and even symbolic figures—are always there, shaping his journey. His Super Bowl performance, his music, and his recent statement are all chapters of the same book: Black women as the foundation of culture, resilience, and revolution. This is a true testament of this weeks theme centering around Black History and redefying synarchy.
Blackout Day: The Power of Economic Resistance This week also marks Blackout Day, a movement rooted in economic empowerment. The goal? Collective financial action—supporting Black-owned businesses, pulling money from corporations that don’t invest in our communities, and recognizing the influence we hold when we move with intention. If we talk about legacy, we have to talk about where we put our dollars. Not just for one day but everyday. One step at a time. I am achieving toward everything I desire. Networking for resources , and giving back with the time and research you put in. Apps like “LinkedIn and NextDoor” are perfect for those settings professionally.

Black History Program: A Celebration of Black Essence
This Friday, Midtown @Family Pride, a nonprofit that really shows up for underprivileged children and families in our community. This event isn’t just about history, it’s about Black essence in motion, told through dance, poetry, and funky fashion.
Expect to see creativity on full display, voices speaking truth through rhythm and rhyme, and style that embodies the soul of our culture. Black history isn’t just something we read about, its something we live, something we express, and something we pass down.
Let us celebrate, reflect, and keep the energy alive, because the story of Black St. Louis is still being written.
A Noteable Overlap: Inauguration on MLK Day
This year, January 20th was significant not only for marking the second inauguration of President Donald Trump but also for coinciding with Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This rare overlap has only happened once before and has sparked a range of reactions. Some view it as a call to reflect on the progress made and the challenges that remain, while others see it as a stark contrast in values. We’ll explore these perspectives and what this concurrence means in the current social and political climate.

Take what resonates, sit with what challenges you and keep building . Drop a comment if you’ve enjoyed this months blog
